I am a Washington, DC based wedding and portrait photographer who was originally trained as an architect. I graduated from University with a minor in Fine Arts and my background enhances the way I see and frame my subjects. I love to shoot in urban areas that are full of energy and life. After almost a decade of working full time in the architecture field, I was drawn to the world of fine art photography and am proud to have made it my career. When I'm not working I love to travel and explore. My favorite cities are Copenhagen, Tokyo, and Paris (who doesn't love Paris?). I live in the heart of DC with my wonderful husband Tom and rescue retriever, Charlie.
As a photographer, I'm a sap. Quite frankly, that is why I fell in love with photography. My goal is to draw out the sentiment of the moment behind every photograph. I seek to create images that bring tears to your eyes; the kind that make you smile every time you look at the photos and cherish them for a lifetime.
Photographing weddings is my absolute favorite! Capturing the events of a wedding day in a combination of fine-art and photojournalistic style is a challenge that I whole-heartedly embrace. I shoot weddings with both film and digital photography, using a Contax645 for the film and a Canon 5d Mark 3 at night and in dark settings. I provide the high-res images with my packages, and you can expect about 50 images for each hour of coverage. I live in Maryland and have a studio in Georgetown, DC but if you're looking into a destination wedding I'm all ears!
During the week I photograph families, anniversaries, couples, and any other portraits. The ideal time for these photos is a few hours before sunset, and it usually takes 1 hour. All the photos are shot on film and included in the price. Email me directly to schedule a date and time.
I also offer one-on-one mentoring sessions to photographers during the week in my Georgetown, DC studio.
