Culinary Based Seattle Engagement Session

Michelle and Derek are two architects in Seattle who love to cook! For their engagement shoot they rented The Pantry in Seattle.  Then we all followed the shoot with a cooking lesson and finally private dinner as their engagement party.

Engagement sessions have the opportunity to be as creative and personal as possible, and therefore I try to incorporate as many personal details as possible! Michelle & Derek are two of my destination wedding clients. And as a result of my family living in Seattle we were able to work out an engagement session in the Spring to complement their late summer Oregon Coast wedding.

The engagement shoot consisted of making an apple pie, something they often do considering Derek is from eastern Washington State which is known for it’s apples. During the shoot the two of them dreamed about opening a restaurant as their next career.

As seen on Cottage Hill the rest of the credits are at the bottom!

This ADORABLE Christmas Tree Cutting Engagement Session at Butler’s Orchard, Maryland

Ok, I’m ending this year on a positive note with this adorable engagement session. Sally & John go to Butler’s Orchard  in Germantown, Maryland every year to cut down their own Christmas tree. So for their engagement session of COURSE we had to do the same thing! However, when we got there in early December we were told that all the trees were out! Must be a popular idea! Well we all asked really nicely and they let us up there to get a small tree… and it was just perfect!

If you haven’t been to Butler’s Orchard in Maryland, I highly recommend it! I think it’s our little town’s claim to fame. And it’s amazing during Christmas!

Can’t wait for their wedding next fall at Woodend in Bethesda! Sally works at the so very popular Salt & Sundry and Little Leaf shop, and John is a very talented artist and architect, so yea basically we are all going to get along very well 🙂

An At-Home Engagement Lifestyle Session

It was so fun to be able to hang out with my friends Cat & Joe and their menagerie of animals! I was so delighted that they flew me out to San Francisco to photograph and document their elopement at San Fransisco City Hall! We spent the day before the wedding catching up over mimosas and getting them warmed up and camera ready. Their place was so perfectly styled for this shoot, and I love being able to freeze this part of their lives in time for just a short while. Like most of my portrait sessions and engagement sessions, this shoot was all film. Living on the East Coast has so many benefits but damn that California light gets me every time!

A & B’s DAR Constitution Hall Wedding in DC

Allegra & Brendan

DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC is absolutely one of my favorite pieces of architecture in DC. I get so excited when I have weddings there, and this one did not disappoint. The design of this wedding is inspired by the architecture of the building and the clean lines of the neo-classical architecture.

This wedding is featured on the lovely local blog District Weddings on December 30th, check out their feature! I loved working with this bride and groom because they truly trusted their vendor team to do their best. My favorite part of this wedding was the late night coffee bar with Swiss chocolates, heavenly after working a wedding!

To see another classic wedding we love take a peek at J & L’s wedding from the previous fall!
