This Sailboat Bridal Session was originally published on the beautiful blog Belle Lumiere and you may recognize the venue from this previous wedding.

Often we get to create imagery just for fun. Given the nature of this job, it’s really up to our imagination what imagery we create. Thus, we are able to scratch our own itch. Thereby living out our own fantasies and interests. The more we can dream, the more ideas we can create for our imagery.

Therfore it is fortunate that the creative director and florist has a long history and interest in sailing. This Sailboat bridal session is her idea, based on many visits to St. Michaels. The fact that she lived in a docked boat for a long time also influenced her vision.

As for me, I can’t believe that I photographed with medium format film while chasing a vintage sailboat. Being on the water is exhilarating already. Add a layer of model, dress, and trying to give direction from another boat and we found ourselves really pushing ourselves. These are always the best photoshoots, and as you can see we are very happy with the results. The pale pink and blue colors of the sunset are reflected in the dreamy white wedding dress by Carol Hannah. And the subtle colors of the flowers add just a touch of luxury to the whole mood.
