An Engagement Shoot in Atlanta

When I was asked to do An Engagement Shoot in Atlanta by this busy doctor couple, I was thrilled. This is my first real destination photo shoot opportunity! I know, it’s just Atlanta – but hot dang I’m going to make it as awesome as possible. 

Since this shoot, I’ve done several other destination engagement sessions and weddings. So many that I’ve written an article about the best ways to plan them.  While destination photoshoots can comprise of many challenges, they are also challenging in the best possible ways. After working in the same areas for too long, one gets a little stale. With a brand new location, I felt as exhilarated as I used to when I had just started wedding photography. I spent hours researching the best possible venues around Atlanta. Of course, this is in addition to, or along with the usual engagement session planning efforts. Which are often pretty lengthy themselves, figuring out what to wear, what locations are the most personal to the couple, etc. 

Upon finding some of the most appealing locations, we also contacted the private venues to get permission. Fortunately, we were in the south and people were most accommodating. This ended up being a day trip for me since Atlanta is so close to DC. I have to say, I love the variety that this job affords me. As someone who hates monotony, I love being thrown a curve like a destination wedding.
